Pilot Testing in Austria

Pilot testing of the QualiTour blended-learning course was organized by FH Joanneum University of Applied Science in cooperation with the International Tourism School of Bad Gleichenberg, Austria. A total of 6 face to face sessions were held at the School with 11 students in tourism. The course started at 27th of February and ended at 29th of May, when each participant received a certificate of successful completion of the QualiTour course in sustainable tourism.

The sessions were led by Prof. Mag. Dr. Harald Friedl, lecturer in Tourism, Nature Tourism and Sustainability, Trends in Tourism Research in FH Joanneum University of Applied Science.

The training was conducted in a very positive atmosphere with participants motivated to learn. During the whole course all students were engaged in a number of discussions on the modules’ topics, group exercises were performed to encourage teamwork. Each learner took part in the elaboration of a final project assignment. During the pilot testing in Austria, also useful synergies with other projects were created as during the last face to face session held, learners tested an eco-hotel game, elaborated under another EU project.
